The apartment is situated in the centre of Kelso, a picturesque country town which lies in a fine setting at the junction of the Rivers Tweed and Teviot. A frequent winner of National Floral Awards, the town is full of architectural and historical interest that can be explored by following the town trail. It was once described as the most romantic town in Scotland by Sir Walter Scott. Click on our Map button at the top to see where we are and what's around us. Its an ideal base for anyone wishing to experience the stunning Scottish Borders countryside. The Cheviots and the Southern Upland Way are easily accessible making the area a walker’s paradise. Steeped in history, the Scottish Borders boasts numerous fascinating sites, abbeys and stately homes, all well worth a visit. Why not explore Floors Castle, Mellerstain House, Abbotsford, Thirlestane Castle, Traquair or Manderston – as featured in Chanel 4’s ‘The Edwardian Country House’? Abbeys too are in abundance with Kelso, Dryburgh, Jedburgh and Melrose all less than 20 minutes drive away. Springwood Park showground hosts many annual attractions including Dog Shows, Vintage Car Rallies, Ram Sales, Kelso Agricultural Show, Horse and Motorbike events and is located a few minutes from the apartment. A easy day trip further afield will find you in Northumberland, Holy Island, Berwick-upon-Tweed or Bamburgh Castle to name a few. Chillingham Castle and its Chillingham wild cattle will delight adults and children alike. Or why not be enchanted by Alnwick Castle, the ‘Hogwarts’ star of the Harry Potter films? Alter your return route and come back in land via Wooler, Ford and Etal and Coldstream. Edinburgh, Scotland’s Capital City is a must and is only approximately 1 hour away. Not to be missed are the Castle, the impressive - some might say infamous! - Scottish Parliament building and the world famous Royal Mile, to name but a few. |
If you are here for a more energetic holiday the Borders countryside is perfect for both cycling and walking. The labyrinth of quiet country roads and tracks, passing through small villages and towns and places of interest make it an ideal cycling and walking location to explore. For the more adventurous walker there is plenty of hillwalking. |
If you’re hooked on fishing, look no further as Havannah Court is a stones throw from the rivers Tweed and Teviot where fishing is readily available. Golfers too are spoiled for choice as there a number of courses locally, including the renowned Royal Roxburgh. |

The Borders are ideal for children too: Kelso has it's own Swimming Pool and Ice Rink. Harestanes Countryside Visitor Centre with its beautiful woodland walks and countryside activities in the summer has an excellent large outdoor play centre. Jed Forest Deer and Farm Park is a working farm with pet corner, play area, walks, fishing and a great sheltered tractor driving play area, and is enjoyable for all the family. The beaches along the east coast are quite spectacular and very clean and safe. A visit to Holy Island (Lindesfarne) is only 45 minutes from Kelso and a perfect day out for all the family. |

During the summer months there are the traditional common ridings and festivals celebrated by all the towns and villages in the area. Rugby is a religion in the Borders and you can be sure to catch a match between September and April/May when the season culminates with the Melrose Sevens Tournament. |
